Last week on the blog we established that using wallpaper itself was not so much a trend but a design staple at this point in time. We looked at some of our past clients who've used wallpaper in their homes and saw the ways they used the patterns to create more interesting spaces.
This week we're looking at a few trends within the wallpaper industry. I had to limit this to 5 categories, obviously there are many more. We would love to hear from you on this topic. Do you have any wallpaper you're dreaming about?
Category 1: Florals + Fauna
The market is full of beautiful floral and fauna arrangements, ranging from mural-like designs to large repeats that create a lush and rich aesthetic. These papers are statements in themselves and would be a purchase you would never regret.
Category 2: Marble
Calico Wallpaper deserves to be written about in more detail here. The wallpaper designs were created out of years of research in various marbling techniques that span the globe. The arts of Suminagashi and Ebru, emanating from Japan and Turkey are evident in the papers and are just a couple of examples of where this couple draws their inspiration from. The result is unique papers that are simply gorgeous!
Category 3: Geometrics
I know there are hundreds of geometric patterns and prints out there but these images stuck out. The neutral palette, coupled with larger repeat patterns made me love these geometric wallpapers.
Category 4: Ombre
The ombre trend is one that is still appreciated in the world of wallpaper. These rich colors give a subtle presence in these spaces and offer up a sense of calm.
Category 5: Local hand-painted wallpaper
